Presented at Milano Unica, one of the world's leading international textile exhibitions, this exclusive collection transforms the timeless beauty of Alphonse Mucha's Art Nouveau into contemporary luxury fashion through the artistry of Nishijin silk jacquard.
Luxury fashion demands more than surface decoration—it seeks materials with presence, depth, and character. Rather than using ink, we express Alphonse Mucha's graceful flowing lines through the architecture of the weave itself.
By combining a variety of weave structures, including satin weaves, traditional Nishijin brocade techniques, gold and silver threads, and carefully selected silk yarns, we create subtle shadows, dimensional depth, and changing luster.
The result is a richness of expression that only woven textiles can achieve—an elegance beyond the capabilities of digital printing.
Inspired by Alphonse Mucha's iconic masterpiece Casablanca, this textile reinterprets the elegance of Art Nouveau for contemporary luxury fashion.
Fine silk yarns, delicate silver threads, and sophisticated jacquard weaving create a harmonious interplay of matte and lustrous surfaces, allowing lilies and ornamental motifs to emerge naturally from the fabric with remarkable depth and dimension.
Rather than reproducing a painting, this textile presents a new artistic expression made possible only through the art of weaving. It transforms Mucha's vision into a contemporary material for luxury fashion, where craftsmanship, texture, and light become part of the design itself.
Developed for a wide range of luxury applications, this textile is designed to inspire both fashion and interior design. It has been used for luxury neckties, cushions, framed textile art, tapestries, and a variety of apparel and interior products.
Our goal is not simply to reproduce a masterpiece. We transform the beauty of Alphonse Mucha's Art Nouveau into a new luxury textile through the artistry of Nishijin silk jacquard.
His paintings are reimagined as silk fabrics that respond beautifully to light, revealing ever-changing depth, texture, and luster. More than a work of art, they become a new creative medium—designed to inspire fashion designers and bring new possibilities to contemporary luxury fashion.
For over 170 years, Kawaseman Nishijin Textile House has been weaving exceptional silk textiles in Kyoto's historic Nishijin district.
Unlike printed fabrics, our yarn-dyed silk jacquards are woven from individually dyed silk yarns, creating remarkable depth of color and a rich texture that changes beautifully with the light.
Every textile embodies generations of craftsmanship, preserving the enduring heritage of Japanese luxury silk weaving while bringing it into the world of contemporary luxury fashion.
At Milano Unica, one of the world's leading textile trade fairs held in Milan, Italy, the Nishijin Textile Collection showcased new possibilities for the centuries-old art of Nishijin weaving.
The collection brought together renowned Nishijin weaving houses, including Kawase Mitsu Orimono, Morisan, Taiyo Necktie, and Tomiya, each contributing its own distinctive craftsmanship and creative approach. Together, they presented innovative textiles for fashion, interiors, and lifestyle applications, introducing the versatility and beauty of Nishijin weaving to an international audience.
